EVHACS is an Irish clean technology company that has created the world’s first integrated heat pump, air conditioning unit and electric vehicle charger.
Our technology transforms one of the world’s most common electrical appliances into intelligent EV charging infrastructure, helping solve two of the biggest challenges facing modern buildingsābuilding electrification and vehicle chargingāthrough one integrated solution.
At the heart of every installation is ELLIoT, our intelligent energy management platform. ELLIoT continuously balances heat pumps, air conditioning, EV charging, solar generation, hot water and building electrical demand in real time, helping reduce energy costs while protecting local electricity networks from unnecessary peak demand.
While EVHACS has developed pioneering hardware, our long-term business is built around software, intellectual property, OEM licensing and strategic partnerships with the world’s leading HVAC manufacturers.
Our Story
The idea for EVHACS was born in 2016 when founder Jeff Aherne recognised a problem that very few people were thinking about.
Having spent his career working across both the automotive and air conditioning industriesāincluding co-owning Cartell.ie and building one of Ireland’s leading air conditioning businessesāJeff realised that electric vehicle adoption would eventually outpace the world’s ability to install dedicated charging infrastructure.
At the same time, he saw another statistic that changed everything: nearly three billion air conditioning units already existed around the world.
His question was simple.
“Why are we building millions of new charging points when the world’s largest network of outdoor electrical equipment already exists?”
That insight became EVHACSāthe idea of combining the two largest pillars of the energy transition, electrified heating and cooling with electric vehicle charging, into one intelligent system.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff partnered with fellow director Darran Faherty, who happened to live just a few houses away. Together, alongside Co-Founder John P Byrne, they developed the original patent and laid the foundations for what has become a globally unique technology platform. Today, EVHACS is protected through an expanding international patent portfolio and is preparing to scale globally through strategic OEM partnerships.

Jeff Aherne
CEO
Jeff is the CEO and creator of EVHACS. Originally an Aeronautical Engineer, Jeff also studied Mechanical, Refrigeration, Software and Automotive Engineering. An inventor, innovator, entrepreneur and dedicated director and business owner. He successfully exited one of Europeās leading Automotive Technology Companies, Cartell.ie in 2022. He is a Director of Electronomous and HVAC company AAC. He is also a licensed pilot.
Darran Faherty
CPO
Darran originally qualified as an electronic engineer in 2004. He worked as a process engineer for Intel Corporation until 2008. A change in career in 2008 led Darran to a cadetship with Cityjet where he gained a frozen ATPL from Flight Training Europe Jerez. He joined Aer Lingus in 2011 and now holds the position of Transatlantic Captain on the A320 Family fleet. He has been instrumental, along with Jeff Aherne, in developing, patenting, and growing EVHACS.
Linda Earley
CFO
Linda is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland having qualified in 2006.Ā She has previously trained and worked for KPMG gaining valuable exposure in a variety of business sectors.Ā She then worked as a senior financial accountant for AXA Life Europe Limited.Ā Linda also holds a Masterās in Accounting from UCD Smurfit Business School and an honours degree in Law & Accounting from University of Limerick.
Dr John P Byrne
Legal Counsel
Dr. Byrne is a multilingual practicing barrister with a Ph.D in law and acts as Legal Counsel and Operations Lead. He has worked for many years in a commercial law environment across a variety of areas within growing businesses including with regards Intellectual Property, legal commercialization and corporate governance. He has published almost 100 articles in peer-reviewed publications across a wide-variety of subject matters. He is fluent in Portuguese and speaks as Gaeilge as well as reading in several other languages including German and Spanish.
Stephan Ramsey
CEE
Stephan qualified as an Electronic/Electrical Engineer and has been working in electronic design for 24 years. He has developed and deployed various technologies and is a registered patent inventor for blue chip companies. He has been working in the Automotive Industry for the last 12 years, with particular focus in the Electric Vehicle Charging sector.
Dylan Byrne
CMO
Dylan has been working in digital marketing and design for over 25 years. First in Ireland, for companies like CBT, Nua and pTools. He then moved to Asia where he lived for 18 years and was a successful entrepreneur, having created, managed and scaled two successful brands.
Olive Aylward
CTO
Olive is an IT Infrastructure & Cloud Architect with over 20 years of experience managing IT systems across Europe. Her background includes both startups and industry leaders like Cisco and the European Space Agency (ESA). Olive is a Certified AWS Cloud System Architect and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to complex IT environments.

In March 2025, EVHACS signed a supply and distribution agreement with Mitsubishi Electric, resulting in the world’s first jointly launched integrated heat pump and EV charging solution.
The company has secured granted patents in the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan, with additional patent applications progressing across major international markets.
Our business model enables global HVAC manufacturers to integrate EVHACS technology into their own product portfolios through OEM licensing, creating new recurring revenue opportunities while accelerating the rollout of intelligent EV charging infrastructure.
